Post by Ocean » Fri Jun 29, 2018 2:24 pm

Had to back door BDWF today. I know I haven’t been around much but is something going on? Invite members here as we have in the past?

We've done that over the last few months....all I know is that there was a server switch but that's about it. Mike has been MIA and no idea if anything will be fixed. Virtually everyone is gone.
Thankfully some have joined here.

Wow. If mike wants to sell it so the information isn’t lost I would be interested.

Koi extended an offer to merge here as a possibility..
So far no response...the server is owned separately which is the big issue

I got this in my email today from someone in administration:

BDWF is dead, moved by the guy who hosted the forum on his server which was
the Doxa server. That person is Rick Marei of Doxa. From what I read on
another forum Mike was not even aware that Doxa and Rick had anything to do
with the forum or that the forum was hosted on the doxa server. Randy did
not tell him after Mike took control of BDWF> Mike found out when the
outages struck BDWF back in 2016 or so.

At that point there were conversations about moving BDWF into
watchforums.net or merging the both of them. Mike became ill and is slowly
recovering as is his wife. Their health took precedent over BDWF as it
should. During that time Rick moved the forum to thewatchforum.net which is
his domain. In the event anyone is interested there are copies of emails
from Mike on the subject posted on line elsewhere.

My point is this, BDWF was founded in 2005 and that is very old as far as
forums go in this hobby. The admins from BDWF have been locked out admin
wise, their rights removed so there is no real way to communicate with
members there. If you are a current BDWF member please try to reach out to
other members and invite them here to watchforums.net No one can replace
BDWF but we can try to carry on the same spirit that made it the
bestdamnwatchforum for many years.

As for BDWF, I looked over there about a month ago and it seemed like it had been purged of most of its data. If BDWF contained damaging info about an individual or company, and you believe in conspiracy theories, this Rick guy might have been paid by said individual/company to do this. I have personal knowledge of this happening elsewhere (a gaming site and a "luxury lifestyle" site).

Another conspiracy theory is that this Rick guy has a copy of BDWF before it was purged, and he's looking to gain legal ownership by making BDWF worthless. And if he gained legal ownership, the old BDWF would magically re-appear.

Is this guy stupid or ruthless enough to do either of these things

I remember registering at BDWF years ago but never posted. Hopefully that doesn't come back and bite me in the arse! We forget how dangerous the interwebs can be.

The problem right now is the owner of the server. That's what's causing all the crap to happen at BDWF.

No matter if Mike was willing to sell or not you'd still have to deal with the server owner.

I don’t get that... if Mike is the owner, how he can’t have access to what’s his off the server. I don’t know the law here, but I would think that he should have the right to move it with it intact.
It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.

Co means co though. I would think that would entitle Mike to needed information and access to allow the information to be saved.

I have no idea as to the terms of the agreement, the time frame or anything else. I know that Mike and his wife are having health issues but no postings from him for all these months is very unusual

It appears that there is little going on here, much like BDWF. That seemed to be headed downhill even before Randy sold it, and little happened after Mike bought it. Members just faded away, even as I did. When I got that email a while ago, I thought maybe this place would bring some life back to the carcass, but it seems that that was not to be... :( I have a fair bit of time on my hands these days, so I expect to drop back in once in a while.
