Massdrop glycine no.1

Post by svaglic » Fri Jul 27, 2018 7:23 am

It’s been an expensive month for buying watches for me and it may not be over yet.
This is one that I keep just missing on the used market. Invicta has put it out again, but with a 1ATM water rating. Pre-Invicta had a 10atm water rating. Invicta has also added this in a 40mm size along with the 36mm, I want the 36mm.
It’s on my list, but I have 5 days to decide if I can live with the 1ATM. I remember Invicta dive watches leaking and getting condensation in the rain, am I willing to take a chance with this at 1ATM?

The text on massdrop indicated that it was given a 1 atm rating like the original. As a pilot watch that kind of water resistance sounds like it might be acceptable. Pilots don't want to be divers, right Mort? Congratulations on another great watch!

They missed the triangle at the 12 and 24 also.
Weird, because on the pre-Invicta, no.1’s by Glycine they had them. I would have thought the dial proto would be easy to slide into instead of making a new one.

I’m still thinking, but I’m leaning to picking one up cheaper on the used market or on a flash sale somewhere or waiting for a Pre-Invicta model to show up for sale.

If it was 10atm (I understand them wanting to stay true to the original, but they didn’t with the dial so why not bump the atm rating) and had the triangle markers I would jump on this.
