My First Monster

Post by Artman » Thu Aug 02, 2018 5:16 pm

I was hoping you guys would talk me down from buying a Seiko Frickn Monster. Hoping you guys would tell me horror stories about ownership of this particular watch. Hoping you guys would make fun of me to even consider buying this watch only worn by hardcore Seiko fanboys. So, here it is in all it's glory ... The Seiko Vampire Monster (SRP313K) and it's frickn awesome! Thanks guys for making it such an easy purchase and thanks to my wife for negotiating the price even lower than originally posted.

2nd Generation. 4R36 movement. Hand winds and hacks.
Image
42.5mm of solid steel manliness.
Image
13mm thick and I thought that I'd hate the shroud, but it doesn't bother me at all.
Image
Solid steel bracelet with those pesky pins and collars which I did not try to size myself after much consoling from RacerX. I couldn't do it.
Image
Diver extension which will only be useful if I get fat because I have no intention of ever going diving. Ever.

And it looks and feels great on the wrist! Oh yeah and I almost forgot...gratuitous lume shot!!

I appreciate all the input I got in this purchase and after a day on my wrist, I'm not sure why it was a such difficult decision. Oh crap, I just realized that I might just be a Seiko fanboy. Cheers!

Nicely done, Tony! I was repeatedly warned not to buy a Seiko Monster because, as one reprobate put it, "the Monster's a piece of sxxx and only xxxholes own them." Can you IMAGINE? Nonetheless, I picked up my first model -- a conservative black one -- for 100 bones from a gent who turned out to become one of my best, most knowledgeable friends in the world of WISdom, our very own jason_reekliner, over to the wartchlards. I have loved and kept it safe ever since I first put it on, and it remains one of my proudest stars of my modest little collection.

As I'm fond of saying over to the wartch-in-thyme clubbe haus, I hope you fully enjoy the H-E-Double-Hockey-Stix outta it! And congrats again, mon ami!

PS - Your missus & mine need to meet someday, as my lady is a kick-keester negotiator and haggler, too... ;)
