Brick and mortar vs digital

Post by Ocean » Wed Aug 07, 2019 4:28 pm

I know that I have seen arguments about B&M vs online!

In a world where consumption is increasingly moving online, how should the performance of physical retail stores be measured? What metrics make sense in a retail landscape that is seeing double-digit, compounded growth in ecommerce, while brick and mortar stores struggle to eke out single-digit lifts? Doug Stephens (pictured top), author and founder of consultancy Retail Prophet, argues that brick and mortar stores are worth far more than the bottom line profits (or losses) they generate. ... um=twitter

Interesting take. It's really hard for any brick & mortar when people come in look at the goods and then buy from the cheapest place online. But he makes a good point about digital overcrowding. I've seen it in the many industries but especially in music. Early on it was great for indie musicians to put their music out there and get noticed. Now there's so much out there it's almost impossible to get heard and make any money. Who knows, maybe the record store will come back!
