Another great line-up- the dials look great and the independently functioning GMT hand is a nice touch on the movement.

You think the price is too high? I thought it would have been higher, the way Seiko's gone lately.

That's a good point. 2019's $800 is 2021's $1,700. And, yeah, after thinking a bit more: That price isn't NEARLY as offensive as the redesigned Seiko 5 line.

The 217 is smoking in my opinion that dial color is something I don’t have in my collection.

Have been eyeballing these since they were first announced. Will likely pick one up at some point but hoping to see a bit of a price drop first.

I have been pretty outspoken about Seiko's pricing, particularly for the watches consigned to Chinese territories. These appear to be made in Japan, but the markings are typically obscure as to country of origin, at least in the marketing photos.

The crystals are sapphire with ARC, and they apparently have the Dia Shield hard coating, or the current equivalent (I'm unclear), as found on the Astron models.

The 6R64 is a well thought of movement thus far, introduced around 2019. It hand-winds and hacks and has an independently settable hour hand without stopping the watch- a nice touch. It's widely reported to out perform it's +25/-15 seconds per day accuracy rating from what I've read. A nice step up from the 4Rxx (Nh35) movements used in many recent models.

If these watches are made in Japan, for their complications, movement, and features, they are competitively priced compared to Swiss or German mass made GMT's on the market. If they are consigned out of country, not so much.

The price at the link is listed as 'approximate,' and specs could still be revised. I reckon the tale will be told when they are released.

I think this is almost absurdly underpriced. Right now I'm wearing a Sinn 105 UYC, with a Sellita 330 movement inside, that I paid around $2200 for. Now, the Sinn is a very nice watch, and I don't regret paying for it. But the 330 is basically a clone of the ETA 2893. The new Seiko has a manufacture movement, that differs from the 330/2893 in that the hour hand is adjustable without hacking the seconds hand; the newer Seiko movement allows for this.

Adding into this the Dia-Shield (or whateverthefuck) Seiko uses, which I've owned with the Seiko Transocean, which pretty much prevents any scratching at all. I'd rather that Seiko uses a date window instead of a dial, but apart from that, I really can't see the downside to the price. Also, as this model doesn't have a rotating bezel, it's unlikely in misalaign like many Seiko watches.

Granted, if this was 40mm, I'd be putting a deposit down right now. However, at just a tad over 42, it's certainly not something I'd kick out of bed for eating crackers.
