Confusion & Hubris

Post by temerityb » Wed Apr 28, 2021 4:56 pm

In a bad mood already, I hope my email box to find this come on from the increasingly desperate gang at Croblings:
Image
First - look at this "sports watch"...

Image

Whoops - make up your mind, Merm!

Image

And what do they mean by "Swiss" this time? Ohhh, one of these things...

Image

And you get 70 percent off that price if you use that coupon code!

There's gonna be more open office space in Nyack any minute now.

I mean, that's a $15 watch. Who gets enticed by this? Who sees this and goes, "ooh!"

Wonder if the Merm is still involved with the company?
As far as I know, yes. He was on air with Megan Harris when Croton had its last gasp on Slop just a couple of years ago. And The Merm is quoted quite extensively on the Croton website, which is like an OnlyFans for people who still own console TVs.

I snorted.

Interestingly:

Many, many years ago, the Motherfucking Merm (as he's known in the wartche trade) had a certain utility, in that he was somewhat fun to wartche--err, watch, at least compared to greasy bastards like Daniel Mink of Renato, or the Teutonic Turd Burglar, whose name escapes me, of whateverthefuck brand he was hawking.

Is this the part where I hang my head in shame and say...
"My name is Buster and I own a Croton"..
I bought it off a guy on here 5/6/7 years ago, I actually quite like it but to be fair it wasn't hawked with such ostentation, it was just sold as a quartz watch for $50-60.

Is it okay if I keep it? Or will I be forever watch shamed...

^^^Nothing wrong with owning a $50 watch as long as you don’t believe it is an exclusive Swiss luxury watch and didn’t pay $300 for it.

I don't remember his name either, but he "repped" Constanin Weisz (??), and he made Richard Simmons look like Vin Diesel:

"It glistens! It GLISTENS!"

I mean, he'd wave his arms around, cackle like a loon, and was generally over-the-top fabulous - just who you want to rep men's watches after three hours of 55mm Invicters. Another GermAsia brand that appears to have come and gone in a veritable instant.

I still have sock drawer with some Crotons in it, I don't think I paid more than 30 bucks for any one of them, and they all still run. I basically change their batteries every two years, but there they are. Pop one on every now and again. I'm not ashamed at all, and you shouldn't be, either.
