That Lange is exquisite!
Yeah, it really is an amazing work of art and engineering. If only I had the $$$

Wish, save, work it, man. You deserve it.

but surely, there are watchmakers out there that get close, there must be something or someone out there that hits something worth spending time looking at without it being the price of a kidney. Especially through a microscope of admiration rather than criticism

These guys, I thought, were vocal in their admiration of the watches, for example the paint on the Rolex GMT hand was machine done and the paint edge error was 30 microns, invisible to the naked eye at at 10-20x.

The Lange is a perfect example that although machines can do incredibly precise work now, they still cannot equal a highly trained human artisan. At least not in the theatre of watchmaking.

The GS and Citizen Chronomaster lines are going to be the least expensive you can come to haute horology at a reasonable price.

I'll bet that microscope was the price of a kidney and a liver!
According to a university purchase auth, about $80K?

Not even close by comparison. One a base on balls, one an inside park single and the third is a Grand Slam. The comparison is "stupid" as my five Y.O. neighbor girl would say.

I don't think it is. They give kudos where they are due and let those watching draw their own conclusions.

The GS is far less expensive than the Rolex GMT but has superior finishing. With the GS and the Lange, you see what kind of differences can be had with hand finishing and metal decoration. Of course the Lange is 20x the price of the GS and they show what that kind of money gets you.
