Tactical Frog

Post by svaglic » Fri Jul 30, 2021 2:14 pm

A nice priced sale going on. I like the colors and soxa style.

Any one here have experience with them?

If it breaks I could have some decent looking mod parts.

Opinions?

Have never heard of them but considering the price, you could do far worse.

Yellow first, then baby blue.

I’m looking at dark blue and baby blue. I plan on getting an orange or yellow Caribbean from tz when they are available and I already used a yellow Soxa bezel on my yellow Seiko Zimbe.
I’m thinking that if the movement quits, the case, dial, hands and bezel alone would be around what Yobokies and Dagaz would charge for them, so I could play around with mods.

I’m trying to see if I can get out of DHL as a carrier, otherwise I won’t order them.

I have big mod plans, IF I will get off my scatterbrained @$$ and do it, it could be cool. I have an idea for the outer bezel.

^^^Sounds pretty crisp and well done. Looks great in video and the AR coating is evident. Nice!

My big dream.
Machine the outer bezel down and put a groove in it all the way around. Take color and do the groove in a meter gauge something like this

Leaving out pink and numbers. It will probably turn out like crap, but it’s a cheap learning experience and I can still have the dial, case, bracelet, hands and movement to tear up on other experiments.

In my mind it will look great, in my experience it will look like crap. It will keep me occupied and busy though.

Got it in. Not bad quality, the edges by the lugs are a little sharp, I can file those a bit.
I want to take it to a jeweler who engraves and have him engrave a groove over the outer bezel. It will erase everything and give me a small trench to try my hand at making a depth meter.
If it turns out like crap, I will still have the dial and hands to mod an old Seiko beater I have.

They supposedly have fixed the bezel for their next batch, I may get one.

Dang! That looks OK!
Agree....Allison, is it a true 44mm case? Doesn't appear to be from your pic.

It’s ok Conj, I know you don’t like it, you can be brutally honest, I can take it.

Jas, it fits more like my mini turtle, which is supposed to be 42mm. It seems slimmer too, the size is great. My caliper is broken, so I can’t get a measurement.

Actually I just side by sided them and although the mini seems chunkier, it is about the same thickness and this one is bigger.
It’s big, but for a beater it’s ok. I have a 6 3/4” wrist, but it is a flat wrist.

They claim they have fixed the bezel issue for the next batch, so if you wait you may get an actual Soxa bezel.
A guy on Facebook has already done some mods with Seiko parts and a different bezel, so these are interchangeable and good to practice mods on.

For the price, that’s not a bad looking watch.

Looks to fit your wrist way better than the case width would have had me believe.
