Re: Art Deco Oris
Saw those earlier today. Overpriced as is every other Oris but I could see owning one for the right price.

Re: Art Deco Oris
$1950? They've got to be fuckin' kidding... At $1600 MSRP, you can get a Longines DolceVita auto, with a far better quality Art-Deco sector or flinque dial. And the same movement, but in a far higher grade than Oris will ever deliver anything.
Like most Oris, it's a 600-dollar watch at best, which means they're at least three times overpriced.
I feel like Oris is the kind of brand that makes any sense only if you really love the looks and don't care about bang for the buck, for the most part.
Frankly, I wouldn't buy this or any Oris even at 50% discount, because I simply don't think it delivers any particular value for the money. It's got Certina-grade finishing on the outside, Glycine-grade in terms of the movement, and costs more than a Longines or Rado - and into TAG Heuer territory - while only ever being able to give Longines, Rado or TAG a shoeshine.
I mean, if one loves a particular Oris, it's what one's going to get, because it's a matter of love, and love is anything but logical. To me, Oris is like a pug-faced, way too chubby girl who needs to be taken to pricey dinners all the time. Well, maybe she's for someone. But definitely not for me.

My manner of thinking, so you say, cannot be approved. Do you suppose I care? A poor fool indeed is he who adopts a manner of thinking for others!

Re: Art Deco Oris
I like Oris and own three, but I've never paid anything close to MSRP for any one of them. I hear about the inflated costs for what you get, so here's how I buy them - I just wait. Oris has been a gray market darling for 15 years and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Re: Art Deco Oris
Brands I will not buy unless sales or grey market. Some are a fair price at MSRP but are so readily available via sales or discounts that are worth waiting for:
Oris
Rado
Tissot
Certina
Mido
CW
Ball
Orient
Glycine
Hamilton
Bulova
Timex
Eterna
Fiyta
Alpina
Junghans
Brands that are worth close to their MSRP that I have owned. Am always going to try for a sale or discount if I can though:
Sinn
Tudor
Longines
Omega
O&W
HKEd
Formex
Citizen
Some GS models
Zenith
Berhardt
Steinhart
Casio
Marathon
Islander Watches
Breitling
Phoibos
Tisell
Sea-Gull
Nodus
Damasko
Maurice Lacroix
Oris
Rado
Tissot
Certina
Mido
CW
Ball
Orient
Glycine
Hamilton
Bulova
Timex
Eterna
Fiyta
Alpina
Junghans

Re: Art Deco Oris
I like the looks of that one in bordeaux though it needs to be larger and shed the date complication.
