The Earnshaw Baron Grand Date Calendar has arrived

Post by SFWatcher » Sat Sep 17, 2022 9:58 am

I haven't done one of these look what I got threads for a while. I've actually gotten a couple new watches over the past few months but today I'll show something that arrived on the front porch on Thursday.
It was on sale. It's a brand I never heard of. I like the way it looks and I'm pleased with the overall fit on my wrist and finish of the watch.

It's the Baron Grand Date Calendar Men's Watch from Thomas Earnshaw, model ES-8187-11.

The diameter is 43 mm. It's 14 mm thick. Kind of like a hockey puck but it is comfortable on my wrist The case and braclet are stainless steel with a brush finish everywhere except the the sides of the push-button clasp and the bezel which are nicely polished.

The crown is push pull and the push button here is to adjust the day of the week.

Two push buttons here. On the left above adjust the big date at 12. On the right to adjust the month display at 9.

The minute and hour hands are a brushed finish. The sweep seconds, month, and day hands appear to be painted blue.

The movement is the Sea Gull TY2525, 29 jewels with hack and hand winding functions.

I'm not a huge fan of the open-heart configuration, but with the big date at 12 the dial is nicely semetrical. The blued hands blend into the black and gray dial but the minute and hour hand are easy to read for a quick check of the time. For under $100 it is a nice sporty watch. Water resistance is 50 meters.
