Finally got around to that watch mod.

Post by svaglic » Fri Oct 06, 2023 3:17 pm

I got this about two years ago with thoughts of a dial mod. The two choices for this San Martin were a California dial or the 12,3,6,9 dial. I tried to find the barrel dot dial and they weren’t the right size for a 40mm case. Since the homages out there are 45-47mm, all the dials were for large cases and I couldn’t find what I was looking for.

This is the dial style I was looking for.
Here is the first barrel and dot Radiomir, probably a prototype. I love this dial.

Since I couldn’t find it, the watch mostly sat.

On another forum I was chatting with a guy who just bought a new laser machine and he said he could make dials. I sent him the Panerai picture and he said he could make it.
I wanted it to look old and used, not new and pristine.
Here is what he made for me. I sent him the watch and he put it together for me.

I am so happy, since 2008 I have been looking for a 40mm homage like this. I got the case and a couple years later I got the dial.
He even sent me another dial that is a few shades lighter in case I ever want to change it out again.
