Seiko Solar Alarm Chronograph SSC138

Post by mrneddles » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:23 pm

Just picked this newly released solar Seiko. No it is not to everyone's taste. Very similar to the Seiko Windward series, but with a case diameter increase and solar technology upgrade.
Very flashy, with high polish braided metal links, and high polish gold IP highlights.
The watch rather wide, 45mm including crown from East to West. Caliber V172.
Has a taupe dial, with jet black subdials, and gold hands and markers.
Links are now using friction pins instead of pin and collars.
Standard Seiko safety lock clasp.

Thanks for looking!

I'm liking this one a lot, Neds...no one does two-tone as imaginatively as Seiko, be it case or bracelet. The taupe dial is kind of counter-intuitive, but it works when fitted out with the black subdials. And it's good to see Seiko following Citizen's lead with increased offerings with the solar technology. Nice pick-up, sir...

PS - Hope your boards are going well, Doc!
