Vintage Helbros Chronograph

Post by kahuna74 » Thu Jul 31, 2014 2:26 pm

I picked this up last week and it just got here today. I have had this watch on my list now for a couple of years. I thought it had either a Venus cal. 188, or a Valjoux 7733 movement. Now that I have it and have been doing some research. I believe its a Venus Cal. 170. I am sure the crown is not original, but I do like it. Its kind of beefy. So far its running spot on, but I am going to send it out for a cleaning and new seals. I think I am going to leave the case just the way it is. Same with the dial.

You are correct that it is a 170 it's the same movement as my 40's Era OLMA. It is a fantastic movement and a great looking watch looking forward to seeing as you restore it.

Thanks Ocean. This is the first watch in a little while that has had me really revved up in a long time. I am loving this one. The crystal is a new acrylic one. No scratches on it as of yet. Everything on this watch works perfectly.

Love that dial!

Reminds me of some type of instrument but it escapes me at the moment.

Congrats!
