New watch, Komrade

Post by kahuna74 » Tue Feb 23, 2016 7:11 pm

Stay tuned in members, I just bought a Komrade diver. It comes with a Miyota 9015 movement. A cool color combo. They are 300 meter water tite. I will post some pictures as soon as it gets here from kiwi land.
This is off their web page.
"Your limited run Military Diver's Watch is our take on the style that became popular on ocean floors over forty years ago. It ships with two straps so that you can decide between rubber or a stainless steel mesh counterpart. Supplied with spare pins and strap changing tool make switching from one to the other easy.

Powered by an Miyota 9015 automatic movement and treated to a Diamond-Like Carbon coating on the bezel and crown, the Military Diver's watch has greater wear resistance and is extremely tough.

Rated to a depth of 300 metres, your Military Diver's watch uses c3 superlume on the hands, face and on the 120 click directional bezel. The case is constructed from marine grade stainless steel. Sapphire glass ensures your watch face is up to the rigours of day-to-day use, the internal bubble for date viewing is an essential part of any true diver's watch."
I can't wait for this to get to me. I bought this for my June trip back to Hawaii. I will give it a review from the Island while I'm there.

Thank you DB. The watch came with a watch roll, a thermos, extra links and an extra shark mesh bracelet as well. Here are a couple more pic's. I think I really like this one.

I like that, it looks good on you. It has its own look, that is tough to find today.

Komrade?

From New Zealand?

NEW ZEALAND??

HAH! I knew those brassards were lousy COMMIES!!

And guess who is nice and close by? That's right! AUSTRALIA, home-away-from-home for the American demokrat party! And socialist brassards like WHAT's-His-Face and WHO-ZITS over on WL! :x :x :x Пучок коммунистической черни, скажу я вам!

BUT, having SAID that, Big Kahuner (which is-uh what Jack and-uh Bobby and-uh Ted would've-uh called you, uh given-uh their collective 'Barston'-uh ock-scents, and-uh sew fowath), I gotta say that I really like that watch A LOT! And Svagy makes an excellent point; it is tough to find a watch out there with its own 'look,' something that is not just a copy - with just enough modifications to prevent a design infringement claim - of something else that's been around forever.

But that name - Komrade - does get to me just a bit. Why didn't they use the Godless CCCPImage word for comrade (товарищ! Pronounced "tovarishch"...)? And now, here are the names - in ROOSHAN!!! - of our active members here @WF:

Proper Безбожный
English Русский
Mortuus - Мортюсь
Kahuna - Кахуна
Svaglic - Сваглык
Wasp - Васп
Biglove - Бйглов
Ocean - Ошэнь
Conjurer - Конжюрэр
Airframer - Эрфрэймэр
D.B. Cooper - Д.Б. Купэрь
Mr. Neddles - Мистэр Нэдалс
Koimaster* - Коимастэр
Bigedsurf** - Бйгэдсурф
Horsefeathers** - Хорсьфэдэрсь

But the real question remains: why did you do these translations, Mort?

My answer: I dunno. (Just showing off, I guess...? After all, it was my college minor, and I had four, long years of it...four years. )

Or, as-uh Jock-uh Kennedy would've-uh shaid, "I-uh shimply osked myshelf not-uh what my-uh webshite could do fower ME, but-uh whot eye could-uh do for my-uh webshite. There-fowuh, I challenge the-ah membush of-uh thish webshite to succeshfully launch a wotch-uh to the moon and-uh bock, befowuh thish-uh deh-cade is out and-uh O-bommer ish-uh GONE! We-uh choosh to-uh go to thuh moon naught becaush it is eashy, but-uh becaush it is haa'ad! Hazh-uh anybody heeyuh sheen my-uh old friend-uh, Mah-ten?"

Whew! Time for my evening-uh medicayshun, uh, medication and-uh peanish-uh-budduh sammitch. Um-uh, doesh anybody-uh heeyuh want some-uh CHOW-DUH? Oh, sweet-jeebus-cripes-uh, I'm stuck on-uh JOCK! Jeeshush-uh...

Oh-deahh...Whawt-uh do I-uh do NOW-uh? :|

Thanks guys. mort, I love the caddy. Allison, I agree. I love it's looks. At 40mm it is very comfortable and yet plays bigger looking kind of on the wrist. Lum was there all night, as I had gotten up a few times. Again, not super bright, but bright enough. Mort, not sure about the name either, as to why the name, but the watch makes up for it.

9015, zazzy hands, brushed case, reasonable price.

I may be in serious trouble on this one.

Nice post, Mort. Wondering how "BigLove" sounds in Russian though?!

In truth, using the sound of the letters as put together, it sounds exactly like 'Beegloff.' (And then there's "Биглоуф," which actually comes out as "Beeglouf," as in "Big Loaf.") How's about this: "Травйсь," which is pronounced as 'Traveece,' but translates to "hound." So there you have it, y'old hound dawg... Image

The color coded hands do save a second or so in recognition time. Just as easy to pick up the positions in daily wear. I prescribe to form follows function.

Like it
Cheers
