Vintage Omega Seamaster

Post by aztecknight » Sat Aug 18, 2012 7:44 pm

I picked this up from Kahuna, not sure if he posts here. Though I was concerned about the 34mm size, the salmon dial sold me. Came in today, watch is absolutely beautiful. I hope my pictures show it. As I understand, this is a watch that was bought from Omega Addict, who restores old Omega watches and sells them on eBay. The dial looks original, just cleaned and likely restored as it has better lume than you would expect on a 50yr old watch. I plan to pop the back off and take some pictures of it later and to get a good look at the movement. In the meantime, I'll be searching for the perfect strap and maybe a bracelet. Definitely not a watch for you size queens, but I've been wearing it all day and though it didn't look right to start with, it doesn't look bad now. It is on the small size, but I plan to use it as a dress watch and think it will work just fine.

A few shots on the wrist, I have pretty much an 8" wrist .

Some shots of the dial, does show some of the lettering worn away.

Thanks for looking. Any suggestions on an 18mm strap/bracelet would be appreciated.

Wow, I am really jealous. Check http://www.watch-band-center.com they have a good selection of vintage-style straps from different manufacturers; morrellato, hirsch, rios, etc. They also have bracelets like the eichmuller dbcooper recommended to me. There are a couple threads here about it.

Awesome pickup, AK. That salmon dial is beautiful, and the watch looks amazing on your wrist. To quote that great and wise philosopher, Dennis T. Menace, "Jeepers, you done real good, mister..." :D

That may be a problem that I haven't considered. Image

The pic below is what I took out of mine and it is on the LAST micro adjustment. The distance between the holes on each link is about 3/8 of an inch. Just had the wife help me do an accurate measure and my wrist is between 7 1/4 and 7 1/2 inches. I wear mine a little on the loose side.

Edit to add: I will be glad to send you one of these links if needed. I will have to keep one as I keep getting wider with age.
