An Oris Divers 65 Chrono Joins the Herd...
When Oris announced the introduction of a Divers 65 chrono last year, I knew then & there that I had to have one. Unfortunately, I thought the $4,000.00(est.) retail price was way too rich for my blood, given that it is powered by the Valjoux 7750 movement. But, I've kept an open eye out for one on the grey & used market places. I got lucky a couple of weeks ago when one was offered to me for $2,250.00 by a respected dealer and jumped on it. Because it's price tag exceeded $2,000.00, it had to go through eBay's authentication process, so it took awhile for it to reach my door step.
Well, I'm extremely happy with the rich look of this baby. The dark, shiny, inky black dial is just gorgeous. The cream colored hour indices & hands, all bordered in gold plate, provide for a very, very, rich look. The domed sapphire crystal plays with the light in a delightful manner & provides for different looks, depending how I turn the watch around.
The SS case measures 43mm wide & because of the movement, is a fairly thick watch. Still, I can report that it is comfortable to wear. I'm glad that it came with the metal bracelet, as the lug width is 21mm, which is a little on the unusual side(size?). The bi-complex dial layout nicely balances out the overall look. And did I mention the inky black dial and gold lettering? Simply gorgeous. Highly recommended.
Here's a couple of pics of it & a pic of it with some of it's other siblings. Now if could just get my hands(wrist?) on the RedBar 65!!..
