I got a Beijing ZhuFeng or Everest Update for the 3.0 I added

Post by svaglic » Mon Mar 14, 2022 7:31 pm

I saw these a couple of years ago and stalled on getting one, recently I thought I’d go order one. Well, the ones I wanted, beihai with the spiral texture, are sold out. So I went to look for the one I liked second and they are all sold out too. I was surprised, but then determined to find one. They don’t come up for sale often, the people who buy them like them and keep them. I saw a new one like this one and it was selling for almost triple what I paid for this. I got it used with no box, but the price was right.

Signed crown and this curve fits great on my wrist.

Got the butterfly clasp and this bracelet feels like butter on the wrist

This is like an all dial, I don’t need a Mido all dial anymore, this is going to fill that spot perfectly

38.5mm w/o crown (41.5 w/ crown), 34mm dial, 8.5mm thickness, 44mm lug to lug, 20mm band width
WR 3atm
Imported Stainless Steel
Beijing B18 movement
White enamel dial with applied or raised Arabic numerals
Date at 3 o'clock

I told Ron that if I had known how well this watch was made and how nice it is, I would never have hesitated when they first came out.
I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for more, this watch has surprised me in quality so much. I can’t convey properly how nice this watch is. This is going in my higher quality watch box, it is going along side my Oris, Zodiac Calame, Kurono, Eterna, Ball and Rado. It really is that nice.

Aaand, once again my pictures are less then worthy.

Ebels are a lot like women that lack a low cut dress that zips up the side...neither get the love that they deserve...

I got the Beihai 3.0, finally.

This or the blue dial is what I had originally wanted for a Beihai. I’m glad I had to wait because I grabbed the ZhuFeng to placate me until I found this one. That’s how I got to know the quality of the Beihai’s.

I found the red dial first, so I got it. Turns out it worked out great, I don’t have a red dial that I can wear much so this is a nice addition.
I’ve seen where these are listed as 36mm, 37mm and 38mm. It fits like a 38, but when I change the batteries in my caliper I’ll measure to be sure.
Love this dial, even though I can’t seem to capture the coolness completely.

Movement shot. The movement is a hand-winding, hacking calibre B18. It is listed as in-house but is thought to be built on a heavily modified Myiota 8200 series movement

It comes on a black lizard strap that I will swap out. If you look at the strap, it look like it was never worn, maybe a time or two for a short period of time,, but it looks flawless to me. No buckle mark on the strap at all.

It also came with the box and booklet, so that was nice.
The seller was selling it for around a third of what they normally sell for, I got lucky.

Unless they come out with a drop dead hot watch, these will probably be my only two Beihai’s. I would not hesitate to replace either of these if something happened, that’s how much I appreciate the quality and looks of these.
I don’t think the usual asking prices of these are out of line. Any other Beijing’s I get will likely be vintage.

I almost caved and bought this without the small seconds and 2mm larger with a B16. I asked Ron’s advice and he said to wait for a B18, I’m glad I did.

Thanks to Ron’s words of wisdom and guidance while I got these two Beijing’s. He was always available to answer questions.
