Timex Originals 1970s Reissue T2N392

Post by mrneddles » Fri Oct 05, 2012 2:34 pm

There was a recent thread over at WL regarding a beautiful vintage Timex Electric. As happens, seeing a nice watch will spark an interest, usually leading to a purchase. I found the Timex Originals 70s Reissue on Amazon for $89 and figured I would give it a try.

A few initial thoughts:
It really does "keep on ticking", quite loudly actually. The indiglo feature is cool but I couldn't figure out how to photograph it. Decent lume. The case feels pretty solid, with nice brushed and high polished surfaces. The expansion bracelet feels like it is made of folded tin, and will be replaced as soon as I can get a 18mm strap ordered. 40mm East to West including crown. Wish the dial didn't say "Water Resistant".

Thanks for looking!

Same here, Wotts, same here... :face:

@DocNeedles: Sharp looking Timex, and it's too bad that the bracelet is uncomfortable, as its appearance really complements the watch. Nonetheless, I've had a few very nice looking watches that felt like a couple of steak knives strapped to my wrist, so they never got worn. Comfort always trumps appearance, IMHO.

What will you be replacing the bracelet with?

Nice Dave....the bracelet looks painful but that's an easy fix...is that a quartz? (I'm assuming it is).

Thanks guys! I have two straps incoming, a black rally and a black Kevlar with red stitching. I can always get an appropriate mesh or a better quality expansion bracelet down the line. Spending more in strap than the watch is dodgey business.

And yes, Eddiea, it is quartz.

Agreed. Both are excellent. That Kevlar with red stitching looks sweet. Good choices.
