Mondaine Evo Automatic
Mondaine Evo Automatic (A132.30303.11SBB)
I have had this one about a year and it's still one of my favorites. Thought I would share some of the particulars here at WatchForums. I have to say, my photo skills sucked a year ago.
The packaging is a little Mundane No pillow included.
The case diameter is 40mm with a 20mm lug width. Mineral crystal front/back. 30m water resistant. I like the simple dial layout. Those big black hour markers and the black hands make it easy to tell the time against that white dial. Some say the lollipop seconds hand is a dealbreaker, but it's allright by me.
The movement is an ETA 2836-2 (Day/Date). The accuracy on the wrist is ok at about +7 secs a day. But the accuracy can swing pretty wildly when sitting still in different positions. This one runs +15 secs a day when sitting perpendicular with 12 at the top. Good thing I'm not an accuracy hound.
The crown, strap and buckle are signed.
I never did wear it on the OEM strap. I put in on this Eichmüller 7 link bracelet and continue to catch hell for it.
On the wrist.
ISSUES:
At up +15 secs a day this would be an issue for some...maybe most. Since I'm no accuracy hound I can live with it.
The crown is pretty small and smooth. There is a black ring around it that is supposed to help with gripping, but it doesn't. It is such a bitch to wind I had to grab this crown winder.
After a year those are really my only complaints. I have no regrets with this purchase. I like the idea of it being the Official Swiss Railway watch and have read that this clock is in every railway station in Switzerland...pretty cool.
