Armand Nicolet Sloop Royal GMT 9466A
I picked up this Armand Nicolet Sloop Royal a little over two years ago. The most expensive watch I had ever purchased at the time. Purchased it from upscaletime.com and got a decent deal. I was convinced it would be the most expensive I'd ever buy, who'd be stupid enough to spend so much money on a watch?
Specs:
Origin: Swiss made
Dial: Black Guilloche dial with raised silver/luminescent bar hour markers with small luminescent dots above hour markers
Date at 6
Water Resistant: 20 Atmospheres
Case Back: Solid
Clasp Type: Polished stainless steel standard buckle
Dimensions: 39.5mm x 11mm
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Rotating Bezel
Crystal: Sapphire
Screw down crown
Movement: Automatic Self Winding
Functions: Hour, Minute, Seconds, Date at 6
It's a great looking watch. Takes some cues from the Blanpain Fifty Fathoms. Uses an ETA 2892, the GMT hand can be operated independently and can be used as a second time zone. The watch keeps amazing time, as I write this, it has gained 3 seconds in 2 days. As you can see from the specs, it is classically sized. The lume is just okay, nothing to write home about. The fit and finish is very good, look at the bezel, I like the way it's done. The combination of polished and brushed finishes is well balanced. Has a signed clasp.
Get to the point
Pros: Good looking watch, 200M water resistant, keeps great time. Independent GMT hand. Bezel moves solidly and has no play. Armand Nicolet has great customer service. Out of service, just about anyone can work on a 2892.
Cons: No lumed pip. The crown could be better. Though AN has great customer service, it is Tramelan. If you need to get service watch needs to go oversea, but they do pick up the shipping if in warranty. No US distributor.
