Ocean 39 Premium 904 Now Available...

Post by thunder1 » Tue Jun 08, 2021 6:54 am

Seems to be an interesting new offering..

The sporty exclusiveness of the „OCEAN 39 premium 904" makes it stand out from other diver watches. Its solid design guarantees highest resilience as well as an outstanding quality.

The "well-known 904 L " stainless steel was used for this model .

In the world of sports diver watches the „OCEAN 39 premium 904" is one of the few examples in its price range which demonstrates such an excellent cost-performance ratio.

Apologies if any confusion. Was wondering price of this vs their standard steel models.

If there isn’t a significant price difference, 904 would be a no-brainer.

Morning, Travis..looks like the difference is around $810.00 vs. $525.00...so, about $285.00...

Just curious..do you think $285.00 is too much for a little better adjusted movement & the 904 steel?...you might be saving me some dinero!!!..

I cannot recall the price difference of 904 wholesale but considering the small amount used in a watch, I would say it is overpriced.

It is my understanding that 904 is more difficult to work so there is some additional labor cost but it can’t be that much considering these cases and bracelets are machine made, likely by a Chinese manufacturer with excellent QC.

Not sure what the cost difference is for the additional movement work.

I think Steinhart is pushing the limit with this one and taking advantage with the 904 gimmick.

Of course I may be completely wrong.

That does sound like a lot. Then again, hardly anybody but Rolex uses 904. I don't think that even Tudor does.

904 vs 316 common in most watches. 316 is much easier to scratch than 904. Take my work work watch a Seiko sawtooth it has been through the ringer but if it was 904 it would probably only have a few swirls and a new crystal.

Think mineral vs sapphire crystal.

From what I have read, the main difference is 904 has greater corrosion resistance, which would be an advantage with salt water diving for sure. The other advantage is it can hold a higher level of polishing.

Since Breitling and GS take 316 to mirror levels, can’t imagine a difference in high polish would be evident but maybe the 904 will hold it longer?

But honestly if corrosion and scratch resistance is the selling point, Citizen’s Duratect Titanium beats 904 hands down.
