Hell yeah I would buy one, if the price were reasonable, which it very much is not.

Have had one on the wrist. Fantastic watch but not $10K worth. Iconic, classic, classy, well made, well finished. All this, and a ubiquitous status symbol, but the entry price is fucking ridiculous.

Frankly? I think Rolex is an absolute bargain, and I'm choosing my words carefully. Consider: You invest 10 grand, but in five freakin' years you can easily get 14 grand or more for your pre-owned watch.

The OP I paid $5,100 last summer is now selling for upwards of $9 grand - used.

If that's not a value proposition, I don't know what is (tho I do not buy watches to flip them - they're all here for life).

And to be fair to you, love: I understand about cost. Tell you what, and I say this all the time: I'm crazy about my newer Rolex, but if the buying climate last year was like it has become these days, I wouldn't even consider it. I'd pick up an Omega or a JLC, save some scratch, and have a watch with more complications and every bit as much quality.

There are limits.

^^^Excellent points.

If I had the $$, I would own that Platinum Day-Date with ice blue dial and diamond hour markers. The wife and I were speaking of it last PM and she asked if that was still my dream watch?

Yep, but unless we take out a 2nd mortgage, it won’t happen. 😳😂

You'll get there. I'm not exactly Scrooge McDuck. I mean, it took ages of planning and scrimping and such; a bit of a windfall of cash didn't hurt either.

It did teach me one thing, at least for me: I am very happy with three or four truly good watches rather than boxes full of lesser ones. You can't go back to the farm after seeing Paris.

I am thrilled with the quality of Sinn and their variety of offerings. At this point $4K is my comfort limit for a single watch.

A Day-Date would be my only real Rolex temptation. If I didn’t want a bracelet, a 18K gold model can be had on the cheap. Maybe one day.

A Sub's a Sub. That's one of the longest wankfests about minor changes to a watch ( a watch that hardly changed in the last 16 years or so) that I've ever seen.

Fuck the Donkeys.
