Forgot about that. I forget the name of the material that they used.
If I recall correctly someone tested the dial a few years back and found out that it was not true meteorite

Yes - it was like some sort of derivative or something.

Typical Invicta. And I wonder how the poor mokes who shelled out upwards of $900 feel about their TV watches with "rare meteorite dials" now that you can grab one for a hundred smackers? Invicta is the Johnson Smith catalog of watch companies - it looked like fun, but after you order, you don't have a lot to show for it.

True meteorite dials are long lasting things of beauty, but are extremely difficult to make.
It is highly magnetic, so needs a special coating to counteract this. It needs heat treating to make them change colour, similar to bluing screws, but being as it is extremely hard and brittle not so easy to do.
Invicta making them for $100? No way, they are probably like those "real sandstone" dials of yore...
