A proper review, but still too kind. What amounts to a $40 watch, sold for $100, unless you really bought the hype and paid the BS-MSRP or up-market pre-owned.

The WIT world freaked out because it didn’t look like total shit and didn’t fail right out of the box. Low hanging fruit. How could anyone find the bezel insert alignment acceptable, at any price? Oh, and the mismatched lume that looks like it was applied by a toddler? And people raved because they didn't mar the case side with the gauche "INVICTA" logo. Gee, how nice of the brand to not be as tacky. Have never thought Invicta's packaging efforts were anything but a total fail. That yellow makes me want to GAG!

Far better off buying a better made Chinese brand homage. Of course that’s what this is but with a different name and packaging.

I used to keep a keen eye on the crap that Invicta issued to the point where the mods at the old WG used to belittle me for stating it. Hey, consumers were getting ripped off left and right, and the stuff we reported at WL moved all over the web. They were shystering left and right, and they knew damn well what they were doing. Once the FH came right out and made the "counterfeit" claim (as well as the reported "watch your step" that's pretty much an open secret), they cleaned up their act. I stopped looking into their product claims because I figured that, after like 10 years, you'd have to be dumber than a box of nail clippings to fall for home shopping network drivel at this point.

IWG issues thrown together crap. I used to feel sorry for the people who got ripped off in all those ways years ago. Now? I'm tired or trying to educate the willfully ignorant. They're the ones standing in line at the post office to ship boxes during a pandemic, not me.

Oh, and the '53 bites.

Perfectly said!

For full disclosure, I did buy the 1953 last year, but have not taken pics or done a review yet.

I posted this review as it appears to be an honest one, and he did a better job than I would have.
Frankly, I was hoping that the 1953 would be a start of a new business model for Invicta.....normal sized, decent quality per cost vs the cartoon hub cap trend

I may have been wrong

All I know is that somehow collectors found the 1953 and I have no idea how. I don't know if it was ever shown on Slop, which, as we all know, is the trough where the Geeks/WITs feed. I know that a few YouTube watch reviewers somehow got wind of it, too, and there are a lot of reviews on there about it. All I know is this: If you look at the honkin' big stuff they flog right now at Slop, nothing's changed at all.

Here's the only 1953 they have at Slop, and it states this thing is 50mm. It's a quartz pocket watch.

They did do a show, that's where I first saw it. They still have some on Amazon, now with different bezels like Batman and Coke colors. A lot were on the online Invicta store a few weeks back, but no original all black bezel

Is a shame that Invicta didn’t do this one right. With the following they have, they could actually turn their business model into respectable, quality watches.

Really is a shame.

I have been out of touch with Invicta since they started going over 44mm and creating hideous fugly 50mm+ Designs.
I have to admit my watch interest started with an Invicta almost 20 years ago, I kept only 2 real classics that I will share pictures one day.
Since I recently re-joining BDWF I have been catching up with posts, and I stumbled on this post, wasn’t aware of this 1953 model… looks very promising, I wonder if that was an Invicta way of checking if their followers are interested in a classic revival, which I guess didn’t fair well enough so they went back to their 55mm+ atrocities.
This 1953 could have been the beginning of a retro classic line with better domed crystal and higher quality .. Oh well I am glad they left this task for more serious watch brands
