Cheapestnatostraps: "...burn me twice, shame on me"

Post by MKTheVintageBloke » Sun May 02, 2021 3:51 pm

Last year, I ordered three straps from Cheapestnatostraps. The service was horrible - it took them weeks just to tell me that one of the straps I ordered was no longer available, despite the site not reflecting the actual stock. The cloud perlon I ordered for my Mora tank was good, the Gulf Racing livery NATO for my DH 1970 was great. Leather rally for my Vostok Amfibia wasn't as good.

This year, I thought I'd give them another chance, but it turned out that I shouldn't have done that.

A 16mm leather strap was a total clusterfuck. The lining on the sides was torn by the lugs, not to mention that the strap had too much excess material, and rubbed against the case. Apparently it's only for watches with lugs as long as a horse's cock. Then one of the two pieces had its leather almost torn by the quick release spring bar's knob aperture. What a pile of rubbish!

Their "Marine Nationale" is just plainly bad. Taking it off my Selhor diver was a great relief.

However, there isn't a worse strap in existence than their Tropic Sport in TPU rubber. What a fucking piece of junk. I have installed one of them, a black 19mm, on my Seiko 5. Fuck, this rubs against the case. I put the watch on, and I felt like my wrist has been squeezed in a vise. What did they make that from, asbestos and recycled condoms? Jeebus.

Frankly, I never, ever bought worse straps. This time, my kibosh on CNS is permanent. I won't lift it even for their premium NATOs, which aren't bad, but it's a "FUCK YOU, CNS!" total kibosh in the name of principles.

Good advice: stay away from CNS and the garbage they're peddling.

Mr. Bloke out.

Wow! Had heard their wares were ok, for NATO straps anyways. Guess their QC has gone to shit.

Not that I wear the damnable straps anyway but good to know where not to buy.

If you stick to "seatbelt nylon" or "premium" NATO straps, they're fine alright. Maaaaybe also the cloud perlon. Anything else - avoid like the plague.
