Yep, I'm talking about my very recent purchase of a beautiful, superbly functioning vintage Omega Chrono-Stop, courtesy of a good friend and true gentleman of Horology, Kahuna -- or, as I call him, Big Kahuna. Big K recently began the rather arduous task of selling off several watches so that, in true WIS fashion, he could make enough to buy -- you guessed it, here's your kewpie doll, oh and did you know that conjurer was largely responsible for the invention of the kewpie doll? It's true! Yep, after her run with Lewis & Clark, Sacagawea, who was well-known for her attraction to much older men, teamed up with conjurer to create an amusing toy for her nieces and nephews, but I digress -- another watch.
This is truly an exceptional vintage Omega, and it functions perfectly. It's dial design is simple but beautiful. But over and above everything else, its recommended manner of wear -- on the inside of the wrist -- is its most striking feature. The 12 o'clock is placed at what would normally be the three o'clock position, thus making it more easily read, simply by turning the wrist up.
Yeah-yeah, Mort, I can almost hear you saying. This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no FOOlin' around, and it ain't no review, either, so get to the most important thing here; how did Big Kahuna do, huh? Well, he did great in all respects. He handled my numerous -- and almost certainly irritating -- PM's and innocuous questions with genuine friendliness and patience. Big K is a forward-leaning kind of seller, and he was quick to give me an offer that, to borrow from Don Barzini and his pals, I couldn'uh refuse.
Unlike a certain other WL member (who shall remain nameless, but is such a luddite that he uses a small abacus and calls it a "hand-held calculator"), Big K accepts PayPal, thus saving those of us who live in this century a trip to the post office to get money orders and pay via snail mail. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that, within mere minutes of receiving my payment, Big K had my watch on its way, using my favorite service, USPS Priority Mail. Long-story-short(er), I had this beautiful watch on my wrist this afternoon, less than 48 hours after (WARNING: geek-speak imminent!) pulling the trigger on PayPal.
All kidding aside, Kahuna made the entire transaction an easy, even laid back experience. There was not a moment wasted in reaching a mutually agreed-upon price, and the Missouri-to-California wait time was truly amazing. As for the watch itself, I couldn't be happier with it. Bottom line, Big K did everything right, and I'd be very glad to buy from him again.
OBTW, he still has some nice watches up for sale here: http://watchlords.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 99#p304999
Thanks for dropping by, and thanks for a great buying experience, Big Kahuna.
