I don't know why anyone is surprised by this. It's been painfully obvious....well, since forever.

Nearly everything we own comes from China. My $3k 60" Samsung flat panel TV says "made in china" and so do all of my Apple products. They work just fine.

We should keep in mind, this is a global economy and the "made in China" stigma means much less than it used to.

I don't disagree that the new shop prices are crazy high. But, I no longer believe a Chinese watch should be cheaper than a "Swiss" one.

My reasoning is because I don't know what it costs the manufacturer to produce and or design and export the watches. I can't say with any certainty that it costs less than a "Swiss" made watch.

Now, there is a certain prestige to Swiss made and I'll never argue that. There's always a price to pay for that prestige. I just won't ever expect to pay less for a Chinese made watch than I will a Swiss one. Should I?

I'm not a geek and I understand the difference between a Breitling and a Renato. I think they're both overpriced for what they are.
