^^^ I have that same watch; capacitor crapped out.

And? Replace it yourself or have it done? Not much different than replacing a battery.
Other than an additional $50 or so.

I have a longstanding thing about the early Seiko Kinetics; they were blatantly advertised as essentially going to last forever. I bought three different Kinetic Seikos and they all died within 18 months. But then again, these were in the early part of the tech (around 92 to 94) and I'm assuming they improved.

Now, the model we both owned (or own, since mine sits in a drawer now) did last a lot longer, and I got it for a song at at T.J. Maxx, if I recall correctly.

I think my choice of words in my response was poor. I should have just written "I have that same model" and left it at that; in no way was that meant to be a bash about your watch choice, not at all. I guess I just drew the short straw when it comes to Seikos and assumed you knew my history with them from the other site. My bad.

^^^^ Up to you. The replacement capacitor is about $25. I had the same issue with a Citizen ECO Drive. I replaced the cell and the watch is once again fine.

Other than an additional $50 or so.
