Help with vintage Bovet watch restoration

Post by jlggomez-2 » Thu May 23, 2024 10:08 am

Dear forum members,

I am new to this very interesting forum as well as the world of vintage watches. I would be most grateful for your thoughts/opinions and guidance with this. Thank you very much in advance.

I own a vintage Bovet chronograph that belonged to my father. It is a beautiful time piece in 18K gold with 18K braided gold band. I estimate that it is at least 80-100 years old. Although it has been well stored and protected for many years it needs repair/restoration as it is not working as far as I can tell. I have searched the internet and have not been able to see one that looks like mine. I contacted Bovet the company and I was surprised to learn that they will not service their vintage watches, or any “more than 20 years old, or so”. I have no immediate plans to sell the watch and would appreciate a recommendation of a reputable vintage watch repair establishment. Bovet did suggest I contact Christie’s for guidance and will follow up with that as well. Feel free to also offer opinions as to the watch’s desirability.

Thank you very much for your help and guidance.
