Omega Speedmaster Mark II

Post by mrneddles » Thu Oct 11, 2012 6:39 am

I was down at my local watchmaker yesterday going over some bracelet options for one of my watches. He was wearing a 70s Speedmaster Mark II with the racing dial and on a heavy OEM Omega mesh strap. I was green with envy. I may have to make one my first Omega. These pics stolen from the web:

Beauty!!! circa 1969, they all use the 861 movement (like the Moonwatch) the Mark II was at one point, a possible replacement for the Moonwatch (but never approved by NASA) the one in the pic ..the Red/Orange/Gray dialed version is the less common.

Haven't seen or gotten my grubby hands on a Mark II , I do know the Mark III is a great watch that cost about 600 and 800 to refurbish.
