New shoes for the Doxa D
While I was just browsing eBay, because I couldn't sleep, I found a really nice strap for my Luftwaffe-issued Doxa. $17 and free shipping from Hong Kong, guess nothing could go wrong with that. Important thing to note is that the watch in question has - as a lot of milwatches did - fixed lugs, and thus requires a single-pass or open-ended strap.
I really love the "flieger" look that it gives the watch, and, well, this was a service watch of some Flieger after all.
The open end is held together by a rivet-style screw, so no sheet metal clamp or some other unreliable solution, and they really make for a cool appearance on this one.
The underside and sides are roughout leather:
...which is fine with me, felt a little scratchy at first, but it already started to soften up. Makes for a nice, rustic look, and the free keeper tends to stay in place, thus keeping my OCD satisfied in that respect. Mind you, I sometimes remove the free keeper, because if it is to slide off all the time, it better not be there at all.
All in all, I think it's not half bad a deal for 17 bucks.

My manner of thinking, so you say, cannot be approved. Do you suppose I care? A poor fool indeed is he who adopts a manner of thinking for others!
