Former BDWFer

Post by GeorgeH » Fri Aug 17, 2018 7:19 pm

Too bad about BDWF. I was a member there since 9/1/06 and now decided to give WATCHFORUMS a try. I retired in Jan 2005 and started watch collecting in Dec 2005. My interest increased by going on various watch forums as well as watching Shop NBC in the Jim Skelton, Shawn Wilsie days. At my peak, I owned 60 watches. I guess I got in over my head as when the recession hit in 2008 I had to unload a lot of my "high end "stuff" due to my financial situation. Well, that's over with, but I still enjoy the hobby although I am down to 18 watches. I just checked my Spreadsheet and I have flipped 423 watches since I started collecting. I still have many photos of flipped watches which I hope to post at some point. I also owned and flipped about 70 Invictas. I really have mixed feelings about Invicta. I still watch Evine watch shows which is dominated by Invicta. I also like to watch YouTube watch reviews.

Maybe this is the wrong place to post this, but I like Seiko watches and was looking at the their line up on Evine. I didn't check every listing but many if not all had Japanese Movements and stated: Watch Country of Origin: China. What the heck is going on? Maybe this is not a problem as Seiko is supervising the quality?

Welcome, George! Most of Seiko's lower-priced models are made either in Malaysia or China these days.

Welcome to WF, George; I am very glad to see you over here. If there is ONE thing that has helped assuage the sadness over the loss of BDWF, it's the number of good friends I've seen coming over here to make this their online home for all things horological. Please do jump in, post early, and post often, my good friend!
