Howdy to All

Post by Mortuus Fakeuus » Mon Apr 09, 2012 11:20 pm

Hi, my name is Don, and I'm a retired USN officer with 26 years active service. I caught the watch bug right around '08, and there has been a long - and sometimes painful - learning curve in the years since. I learned to first mistrust and then out-and-out dislike most of the TV brands and their uninterrupted mendacity and substandard product. Renato was no different in terms of the usual lies and other shortcomings, but I still liked their watches and never felt that any of them in my collection were junk; indeed, the vast majority of RC watches I've come across have had excellent fit/finish, amazing designs and a "wow factor" I can't quite quantify, but know is there nonetheless.

Like some of you here, I am hoping that the change in ownership at RC will auger well for its future, not to mention the future of those of us who still, despite all that's happened, love their Renatos. And, since a certain well-known and bloated-with-members watch website has banned even the discussion of this fine watch brand in their forums, that gives these excellent new forums here a chance to become the preeminent place for all things Renato and beyond.

Before joining this forum I used to tell people that I have "an embarrassing number of Renato watches." It's nice to know that I won't need to worry about even mild embarrassment here. It's great to be here...and I hope this first post hasn't been too long or boring. :king:

Welcome Mortuus. I hope as well that the new Renato holds a better future than the old. You probably still have an embarrassing number of Renatos, so let's see them!
