Re: Pets
This is mittens. She is what is called a lucky cat. She has seven toes on all four feet. She is also a rescue. My wife and I love her, she is the center of our world. She comes when I call her, she talks to me when I come home at night.

@AJT - What an adorable set of peepers on that Auggie...that girl would have no trouble getting her way 'round these parts...! I've absolutely no resistance to that expression.
@BigKahuna - Mittens is absolutely beautiful, Big K, and it sounds like she's as sweet as she is lovely. Please give her a kiss on da nose for me...
@Both of you: Bless you for bringing home a rescue animal; they are a double blessing in your lives...
***************************************************************************************************************************************************
This is my little sweetie, Daffodil Clementine, taken with and by her camera shy daddy (that would be me):
Another shot, this time taken with her mommy, en route to the library for a dig through poppa's books; both girls seem fascinated by the dusty old collection, though I think Daffy's more interested in eating them...
Take a wild guess at who the boss is at Casa de los Mortuus...she's only three years old, but she's already gotten me -- and her momma -- fully trained and wrapped completely around here little dew-claws. I love this dog...perhaps too much...! She is more loving and affectionate than any other doggy I've been blessed with. And that's what dogs, cats and horses are; blessings from God. And I promise that that's as close to religious talk I'll ever get here @WF...!

Re: Pets
My Chihuahua Samson, the day we brought him home in October of 2005.
Samson taking a nap topping out at 4.5 lbs.
This is the day I picked up Big Boy in the median of a 4 lane highway in September of 2012. Here he is getting aquainted with Samson.
This is Big Boy now. He was 77 lbs. at his last visit to the vet. I'm sure he's over 80 now.
Guess who the boss is?

Re: Pets
Sam, I always knew you were a good man, but to rescue and give a home to that big fellow is a saint-like act to those of us who love our four-legged children. He's a true beauty, you've done exceptionally well with him! God's blessings on you, Sam.
Re: Pets
Don't know what happened with my original text, but it was something to the effect that I was telling my missus about your beautiful cat, and was trying to get her to look at Mittens' pictures, when she said, "Oh no you don't; you already have a dog, and that's more than enough for any man! NO cats!" Oh well, I tried!

Re: Pets
You're right kahuna. I suppose one day Big Boy will tire of Samsons antics and put him in his place. But for the time being Samson is the boss.
Mort it's more like I'm stuck with him. I took Big Boy to the county shelter when I found him. No one claimed him and he wasn't chipped. You could say Big Boy is a little on the wild side. He isn't mean, just high strung. Almost every day I have to remind Big Boy (and this is a quote)...I'm the only thing between you and worm dirt Big Boy.

That's sort of akin to my next question, which was/is: Does he ever put it down?

Re: Pets
This is Homie, I guess he is a rescue dog, I got him from some scuzzy people who were having a little party behind a gas station in Waialua. I pulled up for gas and he ran up to me with a smashed beer can in his mouth. They said I could have him and that he was hardly any trouble, just smash a beer can for him to play with and he would be happy. I never had a dog before, but I figured I could, at least, buy him a real dog toy. I think he was abused, he flinches and cries when he is scolded. Sometimes, I'd like to find the person who could abuse such a sweet thing. I'm pretty sure he is half basset, I'm not sure what he is mixed with. I got him when he was 5 months old, he is 3 years and 3 months now.
I was wondering how he would get along with my rescue inbred cat, Buddy Lee. He has one eye, a deformed hip so he can't run, jump or climb a tree and check out that tail with 13 bends and twists. He is 14 years old now, he was a wild kitten when I first got him. I call him a kitty porn star.
Buddy eating off Homie's plate, Homie has a nervous respect for Buddy.

This made me cry. I love animals more than people. You show me that I need to remember some people are good and that goes for everyone of you guys. Much Mahalo.

Love the rescued pups and even rescued cats!
Will post pics when have the time. We are on a waiting list for a new Boxer pup this fall-->spring. Just waiting on the right baby. My 10 year old Boxer, Mandy, passed in 2/2013 from a stroke. Grateful to have been at her side through the whole ordeal. I miss her so much though...

Svagy, first off, you did an awesome thing, taking that sweet animal away from those pogues and giving him a loving home...you, know, he looks almost like a bassett German shep mix. Either way, he's a way-cool Homie dawg!

He does look like a dwarf Shepard, most people ask if he is Corgi, but he has Basset legs and webbed feet. He is a pretty good boy. It's been a learning process, because I'd never had a dog before, but it's been worth it. The people said that they were his 5th home and he was only 5 months old. I thought that was sad, so he came home with me. He stunk so bad, I got him bathed and to the Vet for his shots. He's pretty smart and learns quickly, so it's been a pretty good experience for us both.

You know, that's something I'd never given much thought to, as I've always had dogs; in my 55 years on the planet, 40+ have been shared with pups, but nary a cat. It hasn't been for lack of trying, the most recent 'close call' coming about six months ago when I pulled a terrified little kitty out of one of our avocado trees, where I assumed some coyote had chased her (those little claws hurt when they dig into your chest, don't they? Oy-VEY). She was this completely perfect little tan/black tiger-striped kitty with HUGE, gorgeous green eyes and a purr that sounded like a little lawnmower, and I fell in love with her immediately. Unfortunately for me, but happily for her, her home was close by, as indicated on the little tag next to the little bell on her collar. ***SIGH***
Anyhow, the point of that particular Mort novella was that I hadn't the vaguest idea as to how to take care of a kitty, but I think I would have gladly given it my all for that little sweetie. That's why I'm in awe of what you did for Homie.
