Laptop died

Post by biglove » Wed Apr 07, 2021 6:11 pm

My eight year old Toshiba laptop bit the dust. Replacing it with a new Lenovo, same size SSD, same 8GB RAM and lots of new tech...for $150 less than the last one.

I do love when tech prices drop but damn I don't look forward to getting data off the old SSD IF it isn't itself dead.

Fortunately I use Dropbox so everything but settings will come back fairly easily.

Tech is awesome until it fails and it always fails at the worst possible time. Am sure there is a specific common law named for just that scenario.

love, this might be the first time a thread with that title, on any forum, didn't include the line "I lost all my files."

Only because I got burned by a failing HDD some 20 years ago. Was able to get most everything off of it by putting it in a freezer and pulling data until it warmed and locked up again.
